County grants easement for water line to rural housing development

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Red Willow County commissioners Monday morning approved a permanent easement for a water line to follow county road ditches to a housing development south of McCook.

The six-inch main line and two-inch service lines will go from the City of McCook well site to homes in and near the Nothnagel Addition on South Highway 83. Homeowners in that area have been forced to haul water since their domestic water wells have run dry in the past two to three years.

The easement to place the lines in the county road ditches will be perpetual unless they are abandoned, Gary Dicenta, the county's roads supervisor, told commissioners.

A contract between the county and McCook was drawn up by County Attorney Paul Wood and City Attorney Rhonda Vetrovsky.
