Kansas Class 2-1A state playoffs: St. Francis trips La Crosse, plays at Smith Center Friday

ST. FRANCIS -- The St. Francis football team will be moving on in the Kansas 2-1A state playoffs, defeating La Crosse 58-14.

St. Francis took a 30-8 lead into halftime, and scored 21 more in the third quarter.

Joel McAtee carried the ball 13 times for 147 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Indians in rushing. Teammate Gabe Smull had 127 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries.

St. Francis will travel to Smith Center on Friday, with the winner to play the winner of the Oakley/Claflin game.

Smith Center advanced with a 78-0 win over Solomon.
