Oberlin spikers split matches

OBERLIN -- The Oberlin volleyball team split games against Wheatland and Hoxie on Friday.

The Red Devils defeated Wheatland 25-19, 25-23. Then Oberlin lost to the Hoxie Indians 25-22, 18-25, 23-25

"We played very good at the net against Wheatland," said Oberlin coach Pat Dorshorst. Trina Shields, Tricia Dorshorst and Emmie Pauls had 2 point blocks apiece in the win against Wheatland

Dorshorst and Kaitlyn Stapp did the serving for Oberlin against Wheatland. Dorshorst went 12 for 12 while Stapp went 8 for 8 with one ace. Pauls also had 7 kills.

In the loss to Hoxie, Heather Williams was 8 for 8 serving. Lydia Karnopp had 6 point blocks and Stapp had 5 kills

"The [Hoxie] match could have went either way," said Dorhorst. "For the first time that most of these girls were on a varsity court, they did an outstanding job," she added.

Oberlin is in action again this Tuesday.
