HOLDREGE -- Virginia Mae (Pfeil) Chipperfield, 73, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

She was born Dec. 31, 1930, to Clarence Lavelle and Nellie Pearl (Sparks) Pfeil in Doniphan. She attended schools in the Grand Island and Kearney area and a school north of McCook. She graduated in 1949 from McCook High School.

On Jan. 28, 1951, she married Frank Douglas Chipperfield at the Christian Church in McCook. The couple then made their home in McCook. In November of 1952, the couple moved to Denver where Frank received treatment after contracting polio. The couple then moved to Goodland, Kan., and in 1958, they moved to Loveland, Colo. She owned and operated a health food store for many years in Loveland.

She moved to Alma in 1986. She was employed as a secretary at the Alma Senior Center and the Alma United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Feb. 26, 1975; her sons, Doug on Aug. 29, 1980 and Daniel on Aug. 14, 1992; her parents; three brothers, Robert, Burdette and his wife, Joan and Michael "Mick".

Survivors include her daughter, DiAnn Frerichs of Meridian, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Karren Pfeil of Lincoln and Ruth Pfeil of Alma; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday, 11 a.m, at the Alma Cemetery in Alma with the Rev. Jim Nichols officiating.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
