NORTH PLATTE -- Virginia Ann Smith, 44, died Tuesday (April 30, 2002) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Oct. 12, 1957, in Colby, Kan., to Matthew and Aldea (Schrandt) Finnesy. She attended Golden Plains Grade Schools and high school in Selden before graduating from Rexford High School in 1976.

She was married to Charles Smith and the couple made their home in Hershey where she worked as a CNA at a local nursing home.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of Hershey; her parents, Matthew and Aldea Finnesy of Selden; four brothers, Dan and wife, Cindy Finnesy of Halstead, Mike and wife, Susan Finnesy of McCook, John and wife, Susan Finnesy of Bennett, Colo. and Steve and wife, Brandie Finnesy of Deltona, Fla.; and two sisters, Marjorie and husband, Gary Byrd of Independence, Mo. and Colleen and husband, Jeff Barry of Marquette.

Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Rev. James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Selden Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden.

Visitation is Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Selden.

Memorials may be given in her name.
