Marjorie Vant, 100, died Thursday (May 30, 2002) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Sept. 3, 1901, to John and Barbara (Chairs) Lutin in Sterling, Colo. She attended public schools in Sterling and two years at business school in Sterling.

On Dec. 19, 1926, she married Gentry Owen Vant in Sterling. The couple made their home in Sterling for a short time and then moved to McCook in 1938 where Gentry worked for the railroad and Marjorie remained a housewife until moving to Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was a member of DAR 37th Star Chapter as well as a P.O.E. companion to the Elks Lodge No. 1434 and she was a Pink Lady at Community Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gentry; one son, John; and two brothers.

Survivors include nieces, nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m, at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with the Rev. Rod Church officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Sterling at 2 p.m.

Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, 2 - 8 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Heart Association and left at the funeral home.
