Donald Rea Matson

Donald Rea Matson, 59, died Tuesday (June 25, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.

He was born July 21, 1942, at Wauneta, to Barton Rea and Grace Lucille (Fuqua) Matson.

He entered the U. S. Army in 1964, serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1966, and served in the Reserves until 1970.

On May 2, 1966, he married Carol J. Lepper. He was self-employed as a dry-waller.

He was a member of the McCook Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carol on Oct. 17, 2001.

Survivors include his daughter, Shari Solorzano of McCook; sons, Matt Matson and wife, Stacey, Bill Matson and wife, August and Tim Matson and wife, Bridget, all of McCook; two brothers, Dennis Matson and wife, Nancy of Indianola and David Matson and wife, Sue of McCook; seven sisters, Dorothy Scott of Hayes Center, Beulah Gill of Denver, Colo., Dixie and husband, Neil Anthony of Goldsboro, N.C., Dolores and husband, John Wood of Engelwood, Colo., Devona Sattler of Herndon, Carolyn Wallace of Omaha, and Sue Magee of Denver; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Terry McCorkle and the Rev. Steve Bales officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given in his name.
