Wilma Arlene Martin

HARVARD -- Wilma Arlene Martin, 78, died Thursday (Sept. 19, 2002) at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Harvard.

She was born March 7, 1924, to William and Sadie (Gorton) Breinig in Arapahoe. She grew up in the Arapahoe area. She attained her General Equivalency Diploma at age 50.

She was married to Owen McCullan, Gerald Stearley and Nathan Martin, who all preceded her in death. She worked as a furniture upholsterer, owning her own business in Kearney for many years. During her life she lived in Colorado and California as well as Cambridge, Benkelman, Kearney, Shelton and Grand Island. Due to failing health she moved to Harvard Rest Haven in June of 2001.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; two brothers, Dan and Ivan; and one sister, Minnie.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilma and husband, Manuel Cadena of Bellevue, Wash. and Owena Walker of Minden; two sisters, Joyce and husband, Duane Webb of Arapahoe and Brenda and husband, Terry Norblade; one sister-in-law, Gladys Breinig; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, 2:30 p.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the Rev. Kenneth Breinig officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe.

Memorials may be given in her name.
