Mary JoAnn Mucklow

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Mary JoAnn Mucklow, 71, passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 21, 2002, in Hollywood, Fla. JoAnn was born in rural Hayes County on Nov. 17, 1930, to John and Bessie Lawless. She graduated from Palisade High School in 1948. After graduation she moved to Franklin and worked for Franklin County Bank. She met her future husband, Chester Mucklow (formerly of Franklin), on a blind date in the summer of 1947. They married on Nov. 19, 1950, and spent the next 52 years together.

Work related moves took Chet and JoAnn from Nebraska to Wichita, Kan., Downers Grove, Ill., Milwaukee, Wis., Atlanta, Ga., and eventually to Hollywood, Fla. She worked in the banking industry for most of those years until retiring in 1991. Her passion, however, was her family. She is survived by her adoring husband and their four children and families including: son, Steve Mucklow and wife, Sue, and son, Kevin of St. Louis, Mo., son, John Mucklow and wife, Terri and children, Travis, Tricia and Tara of Miami, Fla., son, Jerry Mucklow of Atlanta, Ga., and daughter, Julie and Kendall Otto and children, Amanda and Christina of Hollywood, Fla. JoAnn is also survived by her six siblings and their families. They include Eileen Long of Colorado, John Lawless of Kansas, Connie Hovorkam, Betty Potthoff and Bill Lawless of Nebraska, and Doris Phillips of Arizona.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 10:30 a.m. Both to be held at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St., Hollywood, Fla.
