Funds needed for fireworks

For many years the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434 has had a proud tradition of coordinating, licensing and underwriting the majority of the fireworks display for the residents of McCook and the surrounding area. Business owners in McCook and several service organizations continually help with the underwriting of this event and many other activities in McCook by their relentless financial and in-kind contributions.

It's that time of year when the McCook Elks Lodge begins to make plans for the Fourth of July tribute. The purpose of this letter is to appeal to you for help in finding a solution to the minor challenge we face. The challenge is finding the funds.

Although we are able to coordinate the event and we have members who are licensed to display the fireworks, we are not financially able to continue underwriting this great event for the people of McCook and the surrounding area.

In order to continue the tradition of the Fourth of July evening gala, the Elks Lodge needs your help in supporting this endeavor. The cost for underwriting the entire event is approximately $3,000. Naturally, the more contributions we receive, the better the show will be.

The McCook Elks is offering everyone the opportunity to financially contribute to this grand celebration of the freedom for which our forefathers and foremothers so bravely fought.

With appropriate funding in place, the McCook Elks Lodge can and will continue to provide the coordination, licensing, staffing and clean-up for the event.
