City should support kids

Tuesday, June 25, 2002

Ask yourself what does the city of McCook do for our local kids?

New playground equipment? No. All paid for by local businesses and personal donations.

Pay for new baseball uniforms and equipment like Oberlin does? No. All Midget League sponsors and softball teams pay for everything.

Now some City Council members and our manager want our kids to pay for water use and maintenance at the ball fields.

I didn't see the Senior Center charge for dinner use or golfers paying new fees for the use of the nine holes owned by the city or blue rock shooters are not being asked to pay the $14,000 extortion fee proposed by the city.

Just the ball playing kids.

Keep it up and everybody will move out of McCook.
