Jacobs, Maxfield recite vows

COLBY, Kan. -- Johnne Jacobs and Bert Maxfield, both of Colby, Kan., were united in marriage June 15, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby with the Rev. Galen Long officiating.

Parents of the couple are Louis and Velinda Jacobs of Sublette, Kan., and Jim and Connie Maxfield of Wauneta.

Grandparents of the couple are Earl and Dorothy Wyatt of Bolivar, Mo., Louis and Georgina Jacobs of Gorham, Kan., and Raymond and Bette Maxfield of Wauneta. In memory of the bridegroom's grandparents, Kicky and Alma Morrison of Imperial and Bob and Pat Kitt of Wauneta served as honorary grandparents.

The bride wore a white gown of French satin with an empire waist and a tank bodice. The bodice and hem were accented with crystal beads, pearls and sequins. Her fingertip-length illusion veil was attached to a wrap headpiece featuring teardrop appliques with pearls and sequins. She carried a bouquet of red and white roses. The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo, red vest and red bowtie.

The maid of honor was Barbara Brown of Dewey, Okla., sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Kristi Meyers of Sublette, Amy Maxfield of Omaha, sister of the bridegroom, and Katie Geudens of Wommeltem, Belgium. They each wore a floor-length, red satin gown with an empire waist. The dresses were made by the bride's mother. Each lady carried a white rose with the stem wrapped in red ribbon.

Eron Kitt of Lincoln, cousin of the bridegroom, served as the best man. Bridegroomsmen were Bill Bischoff, Dave Hamilton and Jeff Steckman, all of Wauneta. They each wore tuxedos that matched that worn by the bridegroom.

Gina Resley of Garden City, Kan., cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a dress similar to the one worn by the bride.

Coleton Doetker of Wauneta was the ring bearer. He wore a black tuxedo with a red bow tie.

Candlelighters for the ceremony were Rachel and Nathaniel Southard of North Platte, niece and nephew of the bridegroom.

Ushers for the ceremony were Mark Southard of North Platte, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Scott Woods of Sublette.

Marge Miller of Colby was the organist and soloists for the ceremony were Sara and Aaron Behrends of Wauneta.

Shelby Jacobs of Gorham, cousin of the bride, was the guestbook attendant.

Heidi Southard of North Platte, sister of the bridegroom, was the videographer.

The reception was at the VFW Hall in Oakley, Kan. The cake was decorated by the bride's grandmother, Dorothy Wyatt. Servers for the reception were Vonnie Kirkman, aunt of the bride and Jessica Kirkmam, cousin of the bride, both of Humansville, Mo., and Nadine Beam of Oshkosh, aunt of the bridegroom.

The couple honeymooned in the Black Hills.

The bride is a graduate of Sublette High School and Colby Community College. She is employed with the Colby Dollar General store. The bridegroom is a graduate of Wauneta-Palisade High School and Colby Community College. He is employed with J&J Oil in Colby.

The couple is making their home on a farm near Oakley.
