Linda Crandall-Jones (center), journalism teacher at McCook High School, poses with former Gov. Frank Morrison and Josefina Martinez, 2002 graduate of McCook High School. Crandall-Jones received the Morrison award from the McCook Rotary Club. The award is given to educators for making a difference in the lives of students and community members and is named after Morrison who is a former teacher who is a big supporter of education. She was nominated by Martinez, a former student of Crandall-Jones. Martinez, quoted in her nomination letter to the Rotary, said "I respect her as a teacher because no matter how full her plate is she always seems to try to find time to help students in whatever area the student is in. I owe a lot to Mrs. Crandall-Jones because I am sure that if she was not by my side during high school, I may have been another statistic in the dropout category."
