Foreclosures approved by commissioners

Wednesday, September 25, 2002

Red Willow County commissioners authorized the foreclosure of 24 parcels of property for delinquent taxes during their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon. Board members also approved an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads to build a new bridge over the Beaver Creek southwest of Danbury.

County Treasurer Marleen Garcia told commissioners she has 24 properties on which taxes are delinquent three years, and could be sold at a sheriff's sale. There were about 21 parcels last year.

Commissioners authorized Garcia to proceed with foreclosures.

Commissioners approved an agreement with the state highway department to build a new bridge over the Beaver Creek on the Sauvage feedlot road. Commission Chairman Earl McNutt said the project will be bid in February and construction could start in the spring.

The approximately $250,000 project will be paid with federal funds, 80 percent; state aid, 5 percent; and county funds, 15 percent. McNutt said the county will pay its share with funds allocated for Red Willow County in a state pool earmarked for bridge construction projects.

Commissioners agreed to open bids at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, for a 2002 motor grader or a demonstration motor grader with less than 500 hours, to be used in Commissioner Steve Downer's Second District. The trade-in will be a 14-year-old John Deere grader with 10,000-11,000 hours.

In other action, commissioners:

- Approved a two-year, $3,200-per-year contract with Prichard and Abbott of Fort Worth, Texas, for appraisal of oil and gas properties in Red Willow County.

- Approved a breakdown prepared for the state of each county department's administrative costs that are allocated to the state-operated child support enforcement program, to determine the state's reimbursement of costs to the county.

- Approved a bond for Lea Ann Doak, treasurer for the city of McCook.
