A McCook Public Safety Center dispatcher's job well done helped find a Hitchcock County woman early this morning.

"The dispatcher did an excellent job connecting information and working with the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Department to get the woman to safety," said Chief of McCook Police Ike Brown.

The McCook Public Safety Center received a call at 7:15 a.m. today, from a woman who said she thought she was freezing to death and she didn't know where she was.

The dispatcher, Derdena Kleckner, managed to figure out that the woman was from Hitchcock County, and with the help of their authorities the woman was found at some sandpits between McCook and Culbertson in a semi-truck that had a cellular phone in it.

A group effort from the authorities helped the women to be found in around 30 minutes.

According to Brown, the woman claimed to be in a domestic dispute and she was dropped off in the area of the sandpits by a man.

According to Brown, the work of the dispatched was essential in finding this woman and returning her to her home.

"We are fortunate to have dedicated and hardworking individuals in our dispatch center," Brown concluded.
