Girl Scouts taking orders

Tuesday, January 7, 2003

The Southwest Nebraska Area Girl Scouts are taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies from Jan. 7-27, with cookies being delivered Feb. 24-March 17.

The annual Girl Scout cookie sale is an event that works in two ways; it raises funds for the Girl Scouts, an organization that supports girls with fun, informal learning activities and it teaches important life skills such as goal setting and money management.

Proceeds from the cookie sale are used by local troops for program activities that they have planned and by the local council to fund services and programs made available throughout the year to Girl Scouts in it's jurisdiction.

There are eight varieties of cookies available, including low fat Ole Olés, fudge and shortbread All Abouts, along with the Girl Scouts number one seller, Thin Mints. The cookies sell for $3 per box. More information can be obtained by calling the local Girl Scout Service Center at (308) 345-3464 or (800) 984-3464.
