EATON, Colo. -- Janie Margaret Dinnel, 73, of McCook, died Monday (July 14, 2003) in Eaton, Colo.

She was born March 31, 1930, to Samuel and Elizabeth (Hoover) Rowley in Wauneta. She grew up in Hitchcock County and graduated from Stratton High School in Stratton in 1946. She began working for Mountain Bell Telephone as an operator in Colorado Springs, Colo., before coming to McCook where she worked with North Western Bell. She later became a service representative for the telephone company.

On Aug. 20, 1950, she married Lee "Jap" Dinnel Jr., in McCook. She retired from North Western Bell in February 1982.

Survivors include her husband, Lee "Jap" Dinnel of McCook; two sons, Lee Michael Dinnel and wife, Diane of South Lyons, Mich., and Patrick Dinnel and wife, Patty of Grand Island; one daughter, Lori Keller and husband, Robert of Eaton, Colo.; one brother, Rodney Rowley and wife, Eileen of Cassville, Mo.; two sisters, Sarah Sherbet of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nona Zigler of Van Couver, Wash., and seven grandchildren.

Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
