Thunderhead on the prairie

A thunderhead hangs over Southwest Nebraska, background for ripening wheat near Max. While severe weather skirted McCook, hail and wind damage was reported near Lebanon, Danbury and northeast of McCook. Hail ranged from .88 inch to 2 inches in diameter. Officially, Enders Lake received .48 inch of rain, Hugh Butler Lake .03 and Harry Strunk Lake .94 inch of rain. Unofficial reports ranging to 2 inches of rain were reported in Frontier and Furnas counties. Farmers are keeping a close watch on the sky, with some limited wheat cutting expected to start today.
