Tuesday, May 21, 2013

McCOOK, Nebraska --Youth ages 12-16 are invited to discover what it takes to start and manage a business at the 5-day EntrepreneurShip Investigation Camp, June 3-7, 2013, at the Keystone Business Center and McCook Community College campus in McCook.

Youth will learn about potential business opportunities to enhance and promote the economic wellbeing of southwest Nebraska. They will discover how dreams can become reality and become inspired by local entrepreneurs who have taken the risk to start and operate a business. The camp will consist of Nebraska 4-H ESI curriculum activities, entrepreneurial business tours, and the development of a product or service that will be pitched to a panel of local entrepreneurs and businessmen. Students will also be given the opportunity to receive further assistance if serious about starting a business. Local entrepreneurial businesses sharing their story with the campers include Sehnert's Bakery & Bieroc Cafe, Schmicks Market, Loop Brewing Co., and the McCook Gazette, among others.

The ESI Camp runs from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and is offered by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension, Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise, McCook Community College, and the McCook Community Foundation.

ESI Camp flyers were distributed to age eligible youth in early May. The camp is $50 and includes all meals, camp curriculum, and a souvenir. Additional registration forms and brochures are available from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension office in McCook by calling 345-3390 or toll free at 877-674-6947. Registration deadline is May 31.
