CURTIS, Nebraska -- Did you know that for every Happy Meal you buy $0.01 gets donated automatically to your local Ronald McDonald House? This is just one of the messages that Regan Garey, Shaylee Schroeder and Kylee Heinzle are sharing with Medicine Valley Students. Their project is to help raise funds and pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha, Nebraska.

On Nov. 20, Regan, Shaylee and Kylee toured the house and helped sanitize toys and common areas of the house. Since it primarily runs on donations and volunteers this was a great help to the staff. After the visit they decided it was time to promote the house in central Nebraska to help raise funds to buy items to donate to the house.

On Jan. 4, the Medicine Valley FCCLA hosted a Red and Yellow Out basketball game. There were various activities throughout the night to raise money such as a three-point shoot at both the girls and boy's halftimes and a cake raffle. Statistics were spread throughout the school as well, informing guests as to what the Ronald McDonald House was and its purposes. This event raised $215.

To continue the project there will be a pop tabs war held at the school during the week of Feb. 11th-15th. If anyone would like to donate pop tabs they can be brought to the school. There will also be donation buckets at various businesses in the community. The FCCLA thanks everyone who has helped support this project thus far.
