Downtown planning meeting Tuesday

Monday, October 22, 2012

McCOOK, Nebraska -- City Manager Jeff Hancock is encouraging citizens to attend a planning meeting, Tuesday evening, that will offer an opportunity to work alongside planners, landscape architects and artists, to design projects for improving downtown McCook. The meeting is part of a coordinated effort to develop options for how to spend a $350,000 CDBG grant for downtown development, that the City of McCook is anticipated to receive in 2013.

The planning meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday evening, at the Heritage Senior Center.

A consultant team hired by the city has analyzed recent data, interviews and public discussion, to formulate possible improvement areas. Some options include gateways, preservation, housing, trail connections and new construction, which will be part of the focus during Tuesday's meeting.

In a press release issued Monday morning, Hancock asked citizens to drop by Tuesday's meeting for 15 minutes, or to attend the entire session if able. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 5:15 p.m., also at the Heritage Senior Center, to allow planners to share the week's progress.
