NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- Mary Lou Golden, 76, died Tuesday (Oct.9, 2012), at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Feb. 2, 1936, at Comstock, Nebraska, to Garland Peter and Anna Mary Land Bivens. She married Ivan Raymond Burson in November 1954, they later divorced. She married Walter E. Wells. They moved to McCook, Nebraska, in 1973 and later divorced. She waited tables, cooked and worked in nursing.

On Oct. 3, 1975, she married Carl Edmond Golden at Hastings, Nebraska. They made their home in McCook until the mid-1990s. After Carl's death in 1993, she moved to North Platte.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, R.S.V.P. and Grandmothers' Club and was a past member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in McCook and North Platte.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Robin Wells; and her parents, Garland and Anna Bivens.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley and husband, Lynn, Wood, of North Platte; brother, William and wife, Karen, Bivens, of Centralia, Illinois; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, Oct.12, 2012, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore in North Platte, with the Rev. Neal Hock of St. Patrick's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Odean Colonial Chapel, 302 S. Sycamore Street in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
