Sheriff's office receives funding for in-car cameras

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Red Willow County Sheriff's Office is receiving grant funding assistance for obtaining three in-car camera systems, according to Fred Zwonechek, administrator for the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

"This highway safety grant funding in the amount of $3,138.75 will aid the Red Willow County Sheriff's Office in purchasing three camera systems," Zwonechek said.

Nebraska has once again qualified for highway safety alcohol incentive funds. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety has utilized this funding to aid local area law enforcement in obtaining in-car cameras and alcohol testing equipment used to assist in the apprehension and conviction of drinking drivers.

"This funding and the ongoing perisistence of law enforcement personnnel continues to impact alcohol-related crashes and the resulting injuries and fatalities," Zwonechek said.
