Red Willow County, Nebraska, weed superintendent Bill Elliott will investigate rural properties on which State of Nebraska ag inspection specialist Jeff Lampmann, of Grant, has reported infestations of noxious weeds, such as this musk thistle growing near McCook. Lampmann has identified uncontrolled trace, light, moderate and severe infestations of musk thistle on 12 properties across the county. Most of the weeds are growing in pastureland and draws and on hillsides and roadsides; one report indicates the thistle growing in the yard of the residence. Elliott told county commissioners Monday that he will contact property owners about control and report back on Monday, July 2. "I will see every one of them, plus some others," Elliott told commissioners.
