CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Carl Edward Johnson, age 78, of Cambridge, died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on May 30, 2012.

He was born in Cambridge on Dec. 26, 1933, to Claude E. and Ada L. (Marples) Johnson. Carl went to school in Cambridge graduating from Cambridge High School in 1951. Carl was drafted into the 
US Army, serving in Korea from 1956 to 1958. On June 4, 1966, he was united in marriage to Patricia (Stapp) Mills. To this union four children were born: Debra, Denise, David and Darla. Carl served on the Cambridge COOP Board of Directors, Water Board in Alma. Carl was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid member of the Wednesday Night Bowling League.

Carl spent his life on the family farm. He learned and taught the value of hard work, dedication and respect for the land and friends. He loved spending time with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his tractors, traveling and sporting events.

He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Donna Miller; three brother-in-laws: Robert Miller; Paul Zable; Gaylord Bellamy.

Carl is survived by his wife, Patricia of Cambridge; three daughters, Debra Novak of Lincoln, Nebraska, Denise and husband, Martin Sis of McCook, Nebraska, Darla Fetters of West Salem, Ohio; one son, David and wife, Darcy Johnson of Cambridge, 10 grandchildren, Dustin Riddle, Jordan Novak, Nathan Novak, Ashley Eskew, Ross Sis, Miranda Sis, Natalie Sis, Vance Johnson, Avery Johnson, Logan Fetters; six great-grandchildren: Elise Riddle, Aidan Novak, Sebastian Sis, Adelle Eskew, Cy Eskew, Aubrey Fetters; three brothers, Paul and wife, Jackie Johnson of Cambridge; Phillip and wife, Barb Johnson of Cambridge; Bruce Johnson of Holdrege; four sisters: Norma and husband, Bob Smith of Cambridge; Sharon Bellamy of Beatrice, Nebraska, Sondra and husband, Bob Foster of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Judy Zable of Lincoln.

Services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Pastor Sherry Sklenar officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Memorial may be left in Carl's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com
