Neva M. Longsine

LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Neva M. Longsine was born March 18, 1918, in Hendley, Nebraska to Robert and Louise (Kirste) Martin. She was raised in Furnas County and graduated in 1935 from Hendley High School.

She was married to Floyd W. Longsine on April 9, 1938. They began their life together in Hendley and then moved to Lebanon, Nebraska in 1952, until settling in Central City, Nebraska, in 1958. Neva worked at the Central City Bowling Alley and Merrick Manor until retirement. She was a member of the Central City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos and bingo. She was an avid fan of Cornhusker football, crossword puzzles and camping with her family.

Survivors include daughters, Shirley (Charles) Nelson, Central City; Janet John, Lincoln; Beverly (Mike) Hulsebusch, Lincoln; son-in-law, Bill Sitzman, Culbertson; one brother, Bobby (Burdella) Martin, Arapahoe; 11 grand-children and ten great grand-children.

She was preceded in death by Floyd in 1977; daughter, Sharon Sitzman in September, 2011; sisters, Merna Smith, Irma Mart and Glenva Wolzen Hinkle; and son-in-law Dwain John.

Visitation will be at Solt Funeral Home Wednesday May 30, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Central City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Central City United Methodist Church or family
