Sales tax receipts increasing

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The 2012 first quarter one percent sales tax receipts for the City of McCook came in at an accumulated $29,661 more than the prior year. The three month total of $434,595 also reflects an amount $62,523 more than the receipts budgeted for by city staff.

The first quarter numbers actually represent the second quarter of the budgeted fiscal year, which is reflecting an excess over budgeted receipts of $148,288 through the first six months.

The additional 1/2 percent sales tax receipts, which is split evenly between LB840 economic development funds and infrastructure improvements, came in at $217,297 for first quarter 2012. That number is similarly ahead of prior year by $14,829 and in excess of budgeted receipts by $31,261.

The accumulated fiscal year-to-date number for the 1/2 percent sales tax receipts sits at $444,188, which is $74,114 more than its budgeted amount and $41,409 ahead of prior year numbers.

January, February and March sales tax receipts reflect sales occurring in November, December and January, respectively.
