NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- The Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors accepted the resignation of MPCC President, Dr. Michael Chipps, which immediately released him from duties Wednesday evening, during their regularly scheduled meeting at North Platte Community College. The board subsequently named Ryan Purdy as the college's interim president.

Purdy was the Area Associate Vice-President of Administrative Services, prior to accepting the interim position.

Chipps announced last week that he had accepted the president position of Northeast Community College at Norfolk, Nebraska.

The board officially approved the naming of the new McCook events center as "McCook Community College Events Center." The new health building being built at NPCC South Campus was named the "Health and Science Center."

The board coordinated several annual items during the meeting, including affirming of the Board Policy Manual, designating Pederson Law Office as the legal counsel for 2012 and the annual completion of their conflict of interest form.

The annual election of officers was also completed, Elizabeth Benjamin will serve another year as chair; Louie Stitham will again serve as the Board's vice-chair; Glenda Hasenauer will serve as secretary/treasurer; Ted Klug Jr. will serve as assistant secretary/treasurer; and Kent Miller and Ernie Mehl will again serve as the College's two NCCA Trustees.
