Melvin "Jay" Fisher

MAYWOOD, Nebraska -- Melvin "Jay" Fisher, 69, died Jan. 8, 2012, following complications from a heart attack in Lincoln, Nebraska. 



He was born July 4, 1942, in Maywood, the son of Leonard Steel and Ona Evalena (Blake) Fisher. He attended school in Maywood, graduating from Maywood High School in 1962.

Following high school, he went to work for Curtis Metals until it closed in 1989. He then worked for the City of Maywood until he retired when he turned 65. He lived in Maywood until the last couple of years when he moved to live with his brother, Gary, in Curtis.


He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rogene and Ida and brother, Richard.




Survivors include five brothers, Leland and Kathy Fisher of Beaver Crossing, Elden and Elaine Fisher of Lansing, Kansas, Marvin and Peggy Fisher of Curtis, Bill Fisher of Topeka, Kansas and Gary and Linda Fisher of Curtis; special friends, Shy Doyle, Sherrie and Denny Merrit; and numerous nieces and nephews.





Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Maywood Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Miller officiating.
