McCOOK, Nebraska -- Berniece Myrtle McGuire passed away Tuesday, Nov, 22, 2011, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 94.

She was born June 17, 1917, on the Parker farm at Danbury, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Perry Lee and Arvilla (Parker) Johnson. Berniece grew up at Danbury where she graduated from Danbury High School in 1933. On Nov. 5, 1934, Berniece married Carl McGuire at Oberlin, Kansas. For 18 years they farmed north of McCook before moving to McCook where she was a cosmetic consultant for many years for Vanda Cosmetics and a sales representative for other companies. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Altar Society and the Does. She spent most of her life being a great wife and mom to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl on Nov. 14, 1998, her parents, one brother Perry Johnson and his family, sisters, Beth Evans, Leota Fenton and Nonna Whitney.

Berniece is survived by her only son, Carlton Walter McGuire and his wife, Brenda of McCook, Nebraska; grandchildren, Rick McGuire and wife, Linda of Warrenton, Missouri, Kim McGuire of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carlton McGuire and wife, Denise of Mary Ester, Florida, Jim Patman and wife, Deanna, Warren Patman and wife, Donna of Odessa, Texas, Mike Patman and wife, Traci of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Matthew McGuire and family of Denham Spring, Louisiana, Tiffany Miller and family of Tallahassee, Florida, Andrea McGuire of Santa Barbara, California, Ricky McGuire of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, James Royce Patman and family of Midland, Texas, Shaun Patman and family of Odessa, Texas, Derick Patman and wife of League City, Texas, Nate and Jake Patman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-great-grandchildren, Gwindolyn Riley, Emma Jade and Isabel Rose Miller, Makaylah, Rhiannyn, and Savannah McGuire, Ryan, Brian, Caitlin, and Madison Rose Patman, Ethan, Xavier and Sydnee Patman, relatives and friends.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday Nov. 27, 2011, at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook.

Visitation will be today and Saturday, until 9 p.m., at Herrmann Funeral Home, and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour officiating, Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in McCook. Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
