Patrick J. 'Joe' Mindrup

COLBY, Kansas -- Patrick J. "Joe" Mindrup, 88, died Nov. 10, 2011, at Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, Kansas.

He was born April 13, 1923, to Al and Marie (Costello) Mindrup in Norton County, Kansas.

He attended New Almelo Grade School and Leoville High School. He later farmed in Norton County in New Almelo.

He married Rachel HIckert in 1956. In 1979 he married Barbara (Schroaeder) Olberding.

He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Soil Conservation Service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Marie Mindrup; first wife, Rachel Mindrup; infant daughter, Marine; stepson, Paul Olberding; brothers, Larry and James Mindrup; and sisters, Dorothy Otter, Mary Ellen Mindrup and Geneva Long.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mindrup of Colby; Joseph and wife, Meg Mindrup and John Mindrup, all of Hays; daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Phil Jansonius of Prairie View and Margaret and husband, Brett Houtz of Ozawkie; two step-sons, Carl and wife, Roxanne Olberding of Siren, Wisconsin and Daniel Olberding of Washington, D.C.; step-daughters, Rose Marie and husband, Charles Fortina of Omaha, Nebraska and Lylea and husband, John Meyer of Siren, Wisconsin; sisters, Ann and husband, Roger Schmidt of St. Paul, Minnesota and Jeanette Weishaar of Salina; seven grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in New Almelo.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-8 p.m. and Monday from 8-9 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish Hall in New Almelo with a vigil service Sunday at 7 p.m. at the parish hall in New Almelo.
