Norma M. Grafel

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Norma M. Grafel, 81, died Monday (Oct. 10, 2011) at Decatur County Hospital.

She was born Oct. 15, 1929 to Fred and Agnes (Behnke) Crocker in McCook, Nebraska. She was raised south of McCook.

She attended and graduated from Red Willow Nebraska schools.

She married Harlan Grafel on Oct 25, 1947 in Oberlin.

She and her husband farmed south of Culbertson, Nebraska and Herndon until moving to Wheatridge in Oberlin.

She was retired from the State Bank of Herndon, where she worked as a teller and served as president. She was also a former Herndon City Clerk.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; son, Rich; brothers, Joe, Don, Leo and Frances Crocker; infant sister, Ida Mae Crocker; sisters, Irene Worshen and Ruth and Bob Goen; brothers-in-law, Ray Grafel, Bill Brown and Harry Grafel; sister-in-law, Grace and Bud Dack.

Survivors include daughter Sheila and her husband, Greg Marney of Rossville, Kansas; brothers-in-law Elmore and wife, Bev Grafel of Culbertson and Tad and wife, Donna Hoxie of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Patty Grafel of Trenton Nebraska, Beulah Brown of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Gladys Crocker of Lincoln and Barbara Grafel of McCook; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home.

Friends may sign the book on Friday, 2 p.m. until service time.

Pauls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
