Rocky Lee Courange

HAYS, Kansas -- Rocky Lee Courange, 50, died Friday (Oct. 7, 2011), at Hays Medical Center.

He was was born Aug. 3, 1961, in McCook Nebraska, to Irvan and Maralyn (Magers) Courange.

He and his four siblings were raised in California for a short time until moving to Traer. He attended Oberlin Elementary and graduated from Decatur Community High school in 1979.

He worked as a rough neck in the oil field and was presently the manager at Crossroads Express. He was a member of the Oberlin American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his father, Irvan in 2005 and his grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Maralyn Courange, of Oberlin, Kansas; three brothers, Brad and wife, Kim Ware of Gettysburg, South Dakota, Kirk Ware of Oberlin, and Clayton Courange of Oberlin; sister, Kelly Brown of Atwood,Kansas; 11 nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were today at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin, Kansas with the Rev. Nick Parker officiating. Burial followed at the Oberlin Cemetery.

A Rocky Courange Memorial Fund has been established.
