OBERLIN, Kansas -- Norma L. Carmon, 78, died Thursday (April 21, 2011) at her residence in Oberlin. She was born Nov. 13, 1932, at Danbury, Wisconsin, to Cecil and Mildred Bailey.

She attended Webster High School in Webster, Wisconsin, and Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She resided in Wisconsin, Montana, rural Dresden, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska and retired to Oberlin.

Feb. 26, 1955, she married James Carmon. She worked as a respiratory therapist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Carmon; parents, Cecil and Mildred Bailey; brothers, David, Eugene, Bob and Jim Bailey; and sister, Murle Stewart.

Survivors include four daughters, Vickie and husband, Armin Sowers of rural Dresden, Yvonne and husband, Dennis Schultz of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Janet and husband, Wylie Anderson of rural Angora, Nebraska, and Janell and husband, John Meyers of Hamtramck, Michigan; two brothers, Keith and Paul Bailey; four sisters, Marian Brown, Marjorie Allen, Margel Anderson and Eileen Carlson; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Friday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Lund Covenant Cemetery.
