TRENTON, Nebraska -- Phyllis Bettie Sydow, 84, died Saturday (Oct. 30, 2010), at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook with her family around her bedside.

Bettie was born April 30, 1926 in Central City, Colorado, the daughter of the late Alford and May FeEtta (Wenger) Rowe.

She married Gordon Sydow in 1946, to this union four children were born. They lived south of Trenton, Nebraska, until moving to a farm north of Stratton, Nebraska. They later made their home in Stratton to raise their children.

Bettie was living in Palisade, Nebraska at the time of her death.

In her lifetime, she worked at nursing homes, a cafe in Stratton, and was a farm wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 1969; grandson, Casey; and son, Spencer; and siblings, Clayton Rowe and Emily (Rowe) Betts.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Sydow and wife, Vicki, and Jan Sydow, both of Stratton; daughter, Cindy Sydow of Palisade; daughter-in-law, Barbara Sydow of Stratton; grandchildren, Brandy of the U.S. Army stationed in England, Sherri of McCook, Tara and husband, Lee Wiese of Kearney, Nebraska, Travis and Troy of Sioux City, Iowa, Tristin and Tyrell of Palisade; Brian and wife, Melissa of rural Stratton; Jennifer of Colby, Kansas and Kody of North Platte, Nebraska, and John of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Noah Wiese of Kearney, and Andrew and Austin Sydow of rural Stratton.

Her request was for cremation.

Memorials may be made in her name.

Memorial services are Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton.
