BARTLEY, Nebraska -- Dorothy E. Premer, 91, formerly of Bartley, died at the Golden Living Center in Cozad, Nebraska on Saturday (Oct. 23, 2010).

Dorothy was born in Wilcox, Nebraska, on May 25, 1919, to Isaac Newton and Nellie (Karschner) Rosier. The family moved from Wilcox to a farm north of Bartley in 1922. Dorothy attended school at District No. 21 through the eighth grade and later earned her GED from McCook Community College.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Elbert E. Premer on May 15, 1940, at the Christian Church Parsonage in Bartley. To this union were born two sons, Gary and Elbert "Gene." In 1950, Dorothy and her husband were both baptized in the Christian Church in Bartley. Dorothy earned money by hanging wallpaper and quilting. She was also employed by the Village of Bartley as a librarian.

Dorothy enjoyed her flower and vegetable garden, and canning the produce. She bowled for many years and loved to travel. She took several trips with her son, Gene and his wife, Sylvia, seeing the sights of California, Niagra Falls, New York, etc. She was an accomplished quilter with the most perfect stitches. She was a member of two clubs, The Busy Bee Club of Bartley and the Methodist Quilters Club in McCook. Dorothy always had a quilt in her quilting frames and continued even after she was a resident of the Cambridge Manor.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert in 1991; her parents; two sisters, Sylvia Moore and Iva Zeller; two brothers, Lloyd and Vernon Rosier.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Gary and wife, Beverly Premer of McCook, Nebraska, and Gene and wife, Sylvia, of Lancaster, California; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Premer of Lakewood, Colorado, and Eldora Allen of Cambridge, Nebraska; and two sisters-in-law, Vesta Premer and Leona Rosier of Cambridge.

Funeral services are Wednesday. 10:30 a.m., at the Bartley Christian Church on with the Rev. Clark Bates officiating. Interment will be in the Bartley Cemetery.

Memorials may be left in Dorothy's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
