BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- James Delmer Reisher, 88, died Saturday (Oct. 9, 2010), at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.

He was born Aug. 30, 1922, to Noah and Lora (Zimmerman) Reisher at the family home northwest of McCook, Nebraska.

His early life was spent on the farm and he attended a rural school until, along with his parents, he moved to Benkelman. He finished his schooling and graduated in 1941, from Benkelman High School.

He worked with his father on a farm along the Republican River.

In June of 1946, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Ellis in St. Francis, Kansas.

In 1955, the couple moved to the family farm and continued farming and raising livestock. The couple bought the home farm in 1972, and farmed until his health failed and he was forced to retire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary, Norma, Shirley, and Karen; and one brother, Bill.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Reisher of Benkelman; and one brother, Roger Reisher and wife, Margaret of Denver, Colorado.

Funeral services are Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Vernon Whetstone officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.

There will be no visitation and the casket will remain closed.

Friends may sign the guest book at the funeral home today from 2-5 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his name.
