ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Dennis E. Monter, 45, died Monday (June 7, 2010) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska following a two vehicle accident south of Arapahoe.

He was born July 11, 1964 in Lexington, Nebraska to Glen and DeLilah (Reese) Monter. He grew up in the Arapahoe area and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of '82. He graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska in 1986.

Following graduation he started to work for Arapahoe Telephone Company the same year. He presently was Information Technology Supervisor for ATC Communications.

He also was active with the Nebraska State Board of Communication. He was member of Izaak Walton group of Arapahoe and Turkey Federation, taught hunter's safety classes, and was a trap shooting coach.

He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and past president of the Arapahoe Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his parents, Glen and DeLilah Monter of Elwood, Nebraska; two brothers, Douglas Monter of Lexington, Nebraska, and Charles Monter and wife, Julie of Aurora, Nebraska; sister, Shirley and husband, Eric Pierson of San Diego, California; 11 nieces and nephews; and 2 great-nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with the Rev. James Moshier and Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church on Saturday.
