ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Wayne Edward Riepe, 73, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico died Thursday (May 20, 2010) at the Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences.

He was born on July 6, 1936 in Arapahoe, Nebraska to Harry and Ella (Fletcher) Riepe.

He was raised on a farm south of Arapahoe and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1955.

He married Brenda Collins on June 9, 1967 in Holdrege, Nebraska. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years, with Mosbarger & Ems Construction, before moving to Denver, Colorado. He worked in Denver for 20 years and then moved to Palmdale, California, retiring in 1998.

The couple moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in August of 2009. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and attended Cabaillo Church, in Cabaillo, New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Riepe; sister, Coleen Yeager; two brothers-in-law Frank Hinz, and LeRoy Von Loh; sister-in-law Margaret Collins; and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Riepe of Truth or Consequences; five daughters, Kelly Keinz of San Diego, California, Rhonda Rossiter of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Renee Collins of Pueblo, Colorado, Shari Keinz of Lancaster, California, and Dani Keinz of Lancaster; brother, James and wife, Karin Riepe of Denver; three sisters, Edith Hinz of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Della Mae Von Loh of Arapahoe, and Dorothy and husband, Norman Huxoll of Holbrook, Nebraska; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.
