Marcella Herbert

PALISADE, Nebraska -- Marcella Rosella (Worske) Herbert, 87, died Thursday (April 22, 2010) at the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home in Wauneta.

She was born Oct. 27, 1922, in McCook to Dominique "Mike" and Jane (Bayless) Worske. She grew up in McCook and attended McCook High School.

On Jan. 23, 1944, she married Charles LaVern Herbert in Brownsville, Texas, and settled in Palisade. In April of 2000 she moved to the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home, in Wauneta.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; infant-daughter, Lavern; and sons, Gene and Donald.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Herbert and wife, Linda of Grand Island, and Bob Herbert and wife, Melody of Chadron; three daughters, Connie Littrel and husband, Virgil of Palisade, Dee Kitt and husband, Keith of Wauneta, and Cathie Hanes and husband, Ken of McCook; seven brothers and sisters, Fern, Cathrine, Mary, Donald, Delbert, Charollette and Faye; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are today, 11 a.m. (MDT), at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta with the Rev. Keith Wellman officiating. Interment to follow at the Palisade Cemetery.

Visitation was prior to service at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Marcella's Memory.
