Mary Pauline Hanna, 76, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 2010) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Mary Pauline Gieber on Oct. 22, 1933, in Ogden, Kan., to John and Lela (Cummings) Gieber.

She married the love of her life, Rex Hanna, Jr. on May 18, 1951, in Westmoreland, Kan., and she spent the next 20 years traveling around as an Army wife. They moved to Culbertson after retiring from the Army and then to McCook in the late 70s where she owned The Flower Cottage for several years before retiring. She went back to work in the late 80s at Country Floral in McCook where she worked for many years before retiring yet again.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rex; her parents; one sister, Doris; and two brothers, Leroy and Jake; one niece Lana Lee and one nephew, Douglas.

She is survived by her four children, Theresa Leamon and husband, Joe of McCook; Margaret Mary Hanna of McCook; Rex Hanna III and wife, Janice of Cambridge; and Matt Hanna of Battleground, Wash.; two sisters, Laverta Christopherson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Wanda Navarro of Manhattan, Kan.; one brother, John Gieber Jr. of Ogden, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Sheila Tallent, Nick Hanna, Mandy Leamon, Jay Hanna, Maxx Hanna, Josh Hanna, and Sunny Hanna; seven great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Jacob, Preston, Kylie, Curtis, Will, and Taylor; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Rosary will be Thursday, 7 p.m., and funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m., both at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating.

Burial is Friday, 2 p.m., at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.

Memorials may be addressed in her name and left at the funeral home for donation to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ogden, Kan.
