COLBY, Kan. -- Kim Allen Kathka, 35, died Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2009), at his home in Colby.

He was born Sept. 29, 1974, at Oberlin, to Steve Kathka and Linda Huss. He was raised in Oberlin and Herndon and attended Oberlin Elementary School, Herndon High School, McCook Community College and Goodland Vo-Tech. He has lived in Colby since 2006.

He was employed at Alltel Communications.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carol Fergusen and Martin McKisson and an aunt, Mara Machart Crawford.

Survivors include his parents, Steve Kathka of Dresden, Linda Huss and husband Bob of Herndon; a daughter, Sophia Madeline Harris; grandparents, Elmer Kathka of Oberlin, Colleen Kathka of Denver, Colo., Marie McKisson of Oberlin, and Jean and Frank Huss of Herndon; and special friend, Hanna Pike of Colby.

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will follow at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday until 8 p.m., and Saturday beginning at 8 a.m., continuing until the time of the service.

A memorial has been established in his name.
