TRENTON -- Arlin Eugene "Al" Limper, died Thursday (Oct. 22, 2009), at McCook Community Hospital in McCook, Neb., at the age of 76.

He was born Aug. 31, 1933, at Dodge City, Kan., the son of the late Jesse Edward and Dorothy (Jarvis) Limper.

Arlin grew up on the family farm at Ulysses, Kan., and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1951. He began working for the Ulysses Co-op.

In 1953 he married Leah Cheek-Jones before entering the United States Navy on Nov. 4, 1955, serving until Aug. 5, 1957. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Ulysses where he worked for Hugoton Gas Company until 1964 when he started his own business called Happy Painters which he developed into an oil field business. In 1976 he came to Trenton where he started Al's Marina on Swanson Lake at Trenton which he operated for many years, retiring in 1998.

On Oct. 8, 1988, he married Donita Daily at Imperial, Neb.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Trenton and was a Past Master of Ulysses Masonic Lodge No. 435 AF&AM.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Anderson, and an infant brother, Verlan Rex Limper.

He is survived by his wife, Donita Limper of Trenton; one daughter, Lana Anderson and husband, Terry of Ulysses, Kan.; one sond, Bruce Limper and his wife, Johanne of Huntersville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Shea Cook, Stefani Limper, Leah Limper, Dylan Limper, Mike Anderson, JoAnna Green and Laurie Deatherage; 11 great-grandchildren, Tristan Cook, Kinsey Cook, Ethan Cook, Chloe Limper, Jace Garrison, Whitlee, Halee, Rilee and Ellee Greene, Nicholas Deatherage and Cody Brom; one brother, Dale Limper and wife, Jimmie of Ulysses, Kan.; relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the Church of God in Trenton with Rev. Johnny Walker officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be 2 p.m., MT, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, in the Ulysses Cemetery at Ulysses, Kan.
