IMPERIAL -- Clarence Wesley Jaeger, 81, died Wednesday (June 17, 2009) at Imperial Manor in Imperial.

He was born Feb. 1, 1928, on the family farm northwest of Imperial to Phillip and Christina Jaeger. He grew up in the agriculture area and worked his entire life as a farmer in Chase County.

He entered the U.S. Army on May 3, 1946, at Fort Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyo. From there he went to Fort McClellen in Alabama for basic training. On July 27, 1946, he married Isla Bauerle at her parents' home at Imperial. He returned to the Army and left for Fort Lawton in Seattle, Wash., and then to Yokahoma, Japan on Aug. 8, 1946. Most of his time in the service was spent as a cargo driver in Japan and Korea.

After returning to Nebraska he and his wife farmed south of Champion. After 40 years on the farm, they moved into Imperial. He continued to farm until January 2001, when they sold the row crop part of their farm. He continued to raise cattle.

He was a hunting guide in and around the Chase County area,.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Christina Jaeger; wife, Isla; brother, Robert Jaeger and wife, Muriel; sister, Inez Thornhill and husband, Otis; and sister-in-law, Charlene Ghiselli and husband, Mike of Alameda, Calif.

Survivors include his daughters, Manette Brown and husband, Don of Imperial and Linda Miller and husband, Tony of Littleton, Colo.; son, Lloyd and wife, Nadalyn of Poteau, Okla.; brother, Jake Jaeger and wife, Irma of Redmond, Wash.,; sisters, Edna Gardner of Imperial and Hollis Wilson of Las Cruses, N.M.; brother-in-law, Elden Bauerle and wife, DeeAnn of Redmond, Ore.; special friend and companion, Lola Alsbury of Wauneta; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous niece, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were today at Imperial Bible Church with the Revs. Allen Prodoehl and Rick Snyder officiating. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery at Imperial.

Memorials may be given in his name.
