Douglas Dryden Dutton

IMPERIAL -- Douglas Dryden Dutton, 69, died April 20, 2009, at his home in Imperial after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born to Renold and Sarah (Bowley) Dutton on Sept. 13, 1939, in Anselmo. He graduated from Anselmo High School in 1957. After his graduation, he moved to Imperial where his parents were living. He was baptized into the Christian faith on Oct. 25, 1953, at the Christian Church in Broken Bow.
On Sept. 6, 1964, he married Charon Peterson. They resided in Ogallala, where he had his own construction business. When his wife's health began to fail, he moved his family and business to Imperial. After his wife's death he went to work with the State of Nebraska.
He married Janice Martin on July 14, 1995, in North Platte. They lived in Imperial until his death. He retired from the State of Nebraska after 25 years of service because of his health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ren and Sarah, wife, Charon and grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Imperial; daughters, Connie Brown and husband, Paul of Pierce, Colo., Kaylene Polly and husband, Kip of Wauneta and Lisa Weidner of Lincoln; step-son, Rick Martin of Nashville, Tenn.; step-daughter, Jodi Martin of North Platte; sister, Marlene Raymond and husband, Howard of Madison, Ala., and Carol McAlhaney of Blair; brother, Dick Dutton and wife, Marilyn of Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., (MT) at First United Methodist Church in Imperial with the Rev. Kay Alnor officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Imperial.
Visitation is today from 2-6 p.m., (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial.
