July 21, 1919 - April 10, 2009

WAUNETA -- Nola Mae Edwards of Denver, Colo. passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colo. at the age of 89 years old.

Nola was born to Linus (Shorty) Breece and Clara Mae (Glaser) Soule in Wray, Colo. on July 21, 1919. She graduated from Stratton High School.

On Nov. 9, 1942, she was united in marriage to John Edwards at Haigler, Neb. To this union three children were born. They made their home on a farm north of Wauneta until a fire destroyed their home. They resided in Wauneta where John was employed at the Wauneta Coop until his death in 1963.

Nola enjoyed her life on the farm where she worked side-by-side with her husband in the farming operation. She enjoyed cooking, raising flowers, doing beautiful embroidery and gardening. She moved to Denver in 1966 when she married Ben Dillon and where she resided until her death. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Her life was filled with the raising of her three children and then experienced the joys of being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Although the grandchildren were spread from coast to coast she always kept active in their lives either by phone or letter.

Nola "Mom" will be remembered for her never-ending love for her kids and their families, constant support and encouragement through all situations and her mischievous nature that never let us get one over on her. She had already tried it first.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Linus and Clara Soule; her husbands, John Edwards and Ben Dillon; two brothers, John and Charles; six sisters, Hazel, Mary Evelyn, Edna, Lela, Laura and Lenice; two grandchildren, Joanne and John; and two very special companions, Tippy and TeeTee.

Survivors include her two sons, William and Gary (Peg); one daughter, Linda; six grandchildren, Jocelyn, Julie, Patrick, Steven, Melody and Joni; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends and one very special companion, Jessie (Jack Russell Terrier).

Memorials may be given in her name to the Max Fund (a no-kill organization for the placement of unwanted pets into loving homes).

Visitation is today at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta from 2-6 p.m.
