DANBURY -- Norma Ruby Gregory was called home to be with her Heavenly Father Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the age of 89.

She was born on a farm near Danbury on July 9, 1919, to Absalom and Isabelle Maude (Ruby) Gregory. She received her education in Danbury and graduated in 1938. She was baptized in the Methodist Church.

When she was a young girl, she took piano lessons and spent many hours playing the piano. In 1950, she moved from the farm with her parents to Danbury.

She became a member of the Danbury Presbyterian Church, became a custodian for several years and telephone operator. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Absalom Gregory on Dec. 23, 1950, and Isabelle Maude Gregory on June 19, 1975; and one nephew, Daniel Wayne Thomas, missing in action from the Viet Nam War since July 6, 1971.

Three sisters survive her, Joyce Weyeneth of Danbury, Lorraine Hartman of Arvada, Colo., and Carol Helm of McCook; and five nieces, five nephews and many relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Danbury Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is today until 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friends may send condolences at www.carpenterbreland.com.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, 2 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Pastor Keith Theobold officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury-Marion Cemetery.
