WILSONVILLE -- Gregg L. Meyer, 62, formerly of Denver, Colo., died Friday (Jan. 2, 2009) at his home in Wilsonville.

He was born Dec. 17, 1946, at Denver to Louis C. and Elinor P. (Perkins) Meyer. He grew up in Lakewood, Colo., and graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1965.

Following graduation he worked for Humbolt Oil Company in Colorado for several years. On Jan. 1, 1973, he started working for the Denver Police Department.

He married Mary Linda Farnsworth on Sept. 8, 1976, at Denver. He became a decorated drug detective over the years with the department, retiring on Aug. 1, 2000.

Following retirement they moved to Wilsonville, where he wrote articles for several fishing magazines.

He was a member of a number of detective organizations and the Church on the Hill at Cambridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Brent and Ron.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Wilsonville; daughter, Shelly and husband, Jerry LePlatt of Wilsonville; son, Lance Meyer and wife, Stephanie of Littleton, Colo.; and two grandsons.
