WHEATRIDGE, Colo. -- Homer Floyd Fisher died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at the Lutheran Colliers Hospice Center in Wheatridge, Colo., at the age of 92.

He was born May 21, 1916, at Lebanon, Neb., the son of the late Walter and Sylvia (Greenway) Fisher. Homer grew up in the Lebanon and Danbury communities and attended Danbury High School.

On Oct. 11, 1937, Homer married Margaret Murphy at Oberlin, Kan. For 10 years he worked in construction before joining the Burlington Railroad in 1945, as a fireman and became an engineer. He retired in 1979.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Memorial United Methodist Church and McCook Elks Lodge 1434.

Homer and Margaret made their home in McCook since 1957.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret on May 22, 2007, one brother, Lowell Fisher and one sister, Karen.

Homer is survived by one daughter, Diane Harvanek and husband, Jim of Arvada, Colo,; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Fisher of Ferndale, Wash.; three sisters, Bonnie Lipsey of Albany, Ore., Patsy Larson of Everett, Wash., and Marjorie Warner of Oakland, Wash.; and relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be later in the spring as he was cremated and services will be announced by Herrmann Funeral Home.
