OGALLALA -- A.E. "PeeWee" Wolfe, 86, formerly of Ogallala, died Monday (Nov. 17, 2008) at his home in Lincoln.

He was born May 20,1922, in Cambridge to Floyd E. and Jane (Steel) Wolfe. Following his graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 11, 1942, serving in the Pacific Theatre in the Medical Department of the 185th Infantry. He was discharged on Nov. 15, 1945.

He married Irene C. McCarville on Jan. 18, 1946, in Norton, Kan. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. They lived in the McCook area for several years.

He was a member of the Ogallala United Methodist Church and St. Mark's Methodist Church in Lincoln. He was a proud and grateful participant in the first Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in May of 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and son, Randy Wolfe.

Survivors include his wife, Irene of Lincoln; son Kenneth and wife, Nancy Wolfe of Lincoln; sisters-in-law Lorraine West of North Platte and Kathryn McCarville of Oshkosh, step-sister, Laveda McFarland of McCook; one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors were Nov. 21, 2008, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell with the Rev. Jim Miller of the Ogallala United Methodist Church officiating.
